The heartburn and the food are closely dependent. There are several recommendations which one can observe to decrease or relieve his heartburn.
It is necessary for all to avoid the prolonged fasts, since a stomach empties will be much more vulnerable to acidity. If the heartburn appears between the meals, the catch of a collation often makes it possible to relieve them at certain people. As opposed to what one could think, milk can very relieve the gastric pains with short term. However, it can also worsen the gastric acidity in the long run since it contains casein and calcium, which increase gastric secretion and thus the feeling of acidity.
The fruits known as citrine or acid like orange, grapefruit or apples can be also responsible for gastric discomforts. From the point of view of drinks, the coffee, the, the chocolate, the cocoa and the cola, contain méthylxanthines which can cause strong pains with the stomach. Alcohol, finally, supports the gastric hydrochloric acid secretion which can be detrimental for the stomach. On the level of spices, that will depend much on the individual tolerance of each one.
The food to be avoided
Certain food accentuates or creates heartburn by facilitating the acid backward flow in the oesophagus or by increasing the production of gastric juices or by decreasing the effectiveness of the sphincter oesophagien which must prevent acidity from going up in the oesophagus. It is in particular the case of rich foods in greases, they decrease the tonicity of the sphincter, they delay digestion, and thus support the accumulation of the gastric juices in the stomach. Exit thus cracklings, pork-butcheries, full-cream milk, the cheese, sauces rich and fatty meats.
The chocolate also contributes to slacken the muscle of the sphincter. The spearmint and the peppermint, which have acids known as “volatile”, cause the same effects, it is thus to advise to avoid herb teas, drinks, delicacies or seasonings which contain mint. The onions are also recognized like having a direct effect on irritation of the oesophagus. In particular fried onions often cause heartburn especially at the people who suffer regularly from backward flow gastro-œsophagiens.
The food to be privileged
Other food on the contrary increases the pressure of the lower sphincter œsophagien. They are the rich foods in proteins like the thin meats, fish, the skimmed or partially skimmed dairy products. The people who suffer from backward flow gastro-œsophagien or heartburn should choose for example thin cuts of ox, calf, pig and lamb, but also the poultries without the skin, also fish fresh or frozen, sardines, low-fat cheeses and yoghourts containing less than 2% of fat.
Thus, to take guard with its food can relieve the burns and other evils of the stomach. But it should be noted that this discipline is not always sufficient with itself.
