Regarded a long time as a minor disorder of the stomach due to the dietary habits, the heartburn can actually have several causes. Whereas certain food will contribute for example to the relaxation of the lower sphincter œsophagien, and thus will make it possible acidity to go up in the oesophagus, other food will increase the production of gastric juices and will return the contents of the more acid stomach.
Heartburn and stress
The stress is clearly to identify as being a leading cause of the brûlements of stomach. While working on our stress, we can reduce the heartburn considerably since there exists clearly a bond between the nervous system and the digestive system. A digestion without stress is important because, under the influence of this one, we increase the secretion of acids in the stomach and the feeling of burn takes to us. We have in addition tendency to evil mastiquer the food while precipitating more under the stress, which gives more work to the stomach, which will then call upon more acidity during digestion.
Heartburn and food
The type of food is obviously to take into account as for the effect on the brûlements of stomach and to prevent the acid backward flow. Indeed, a not adapted food because too much acid, too fatty, too spiced, too consistent is a worsening factor of the feelings of brûlements of stomach. The food mode is thus a big factor in the development and the treatment of the heartburn. First of all, certain food causes the relaxation of the lower sphincter œsophagien. They thus facilitate the backward flow of food in the oesophagus and can cause the uncomfortable feeling of burn. Then, other food increases as for them the production of gastric juices. While returning the contents of the more acid stomach, this food can increase the pain when there is backward flow. Lastly, there is the particularly irritating food for a damaged oesophagus and which causes burns as soon as they are swallowed. By avoiding this food, we prevent, in much case, the burns and the pains associated with the backward flow gastro-œsophagien.
Heartburn and lifestyle
Certain practices of life also support the heartburn. For example, the fact of lengthening just after the meal can cause the acid backward flow in the oesophagus, or certain exercises violent one as those which require to lean, or then the fact of having large meal or to eat quickly can cause a pressure on the sphincter and involve an increase in the oesophagus. Too tight clothing can also exert the same kind of pressure and cause the same effects. The smokers risk as more as the others to be inconvenienced by the backward flow œsophagien and the heartburn.
Heartburn and alcohol
Alcohol can cause heartburn. It has initially a releasing effect on the sphincter œsophagien, which makes this last less vigilant and thus lets acidity go up in the oesophagus. Alcohol increases in addition the production of gastric juices and returns the contents of the more acid stomach, the pain can thus be more accentuated in the event of backward flow. In addition to that, the alcohol is irritating acute which can cause a feeling of heat all along the oesophagus. If this last is already damaged, alcohol causes intense burns then and the pain can become acuter.
Heartburn and drugs
Certain drugs are also blamed in the heartburn, in particular the anti-inflammatory drugs. These drugs can strongly irritate the gastric mucous membrane and can thus cause heartburn and sometimes same of the ulcers.
There exist other causes of the heartburn. That it is at the time of pregnancy, of excess of weight, or obesity, the heartburn and the acid backward flow can be more frequent because of the increase in the pressure on the stomach. In addition, the bacterium Helicobacter pylori can also be a cause of the heartburn because it causes gastric ignitions. This list cannot obviously be exhaustive since many causes can cause or accentuate the heartburn and the acid backward flow like the allergies to certain food, the overproduction of gastric acidity or malformations on the level of the stomach.
